Privacy Policy
Last updated 5 November 2026In short: Paper Cut! doesn't ask for your name, email, contacts, location or photos. The game keeps your progress on your phone, with a copy in Game Center or Google Play Games if you're signed in. To run the leaderboard we store a player id, the display name you choose and your rank points. Ads are served by Google AdMob and its partners, which use your device's advertising identifier only if you allow it, and you can say no to personalised ads. Purchases go through Google Play or the App Store, checked by RevenueCat; we never see your payment details.

1. Who we are
Paper Cut! (the "Game") is made and published by Aryan Utkarsh, based in New Delhi, India ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the Game collects when you play it on Android or iOS and when you visit this website, and what we do with it. We are the data controller for the leaderboard data described below.
2. What we collect
Stored on your device
Your level progress, coins, lives, boosters, Paper Pass progress, settings and purchase history are saved on your phone. They are not sent to us. Uninstalling the Game deletes them.
If you're signed in to Game Center (iOS) or Google Play Games (Android), the Game also saves a copy of your progress there, so it follows you to a new phone or a reinstall. Game Center keeps it in your iCloud account and Play Games in your Google account. Apple and Google hold that copy, not us.
The players you hide on the leaderboard are remembered on your phone only.
Sent to our server (the leaderboard)
The Game runs a global leaderboard on our own server. It stores:
- A player id. On iOS, if you're signed in to Game Center on your phone, it is made from your Game Center player id: Apple signs that id, our server checks the signature, and we keep only a one-way hash of it. On Android, if you sign in with Google Play Games, it is derived from your Play Games player id. Otherwise it is a random, anonymous id created for your install.
- Your display name. The Game gives you a random name, which you can change (up to 16 characters). It is shown publicly on the leaderboard, so please don't use your real name or anything personal. Our server refuses names containing offensive words.
- Game events and scores. Which levels you cleared or ran out of time on, and the rank points and level the server works out from them.
- An ad test group. A number from 0 to 99 chosen at random when the Game is installed, used to compare how different ad settings affect how long people keep playing.
- Technical data. As with any internet request, our server receives your IP address and the time of the request. We use these only to deliver the service and protect it from abuse.
When you sign in with Google Play Games, Google shares your Play Games player id with us. When you're signed in to Game Center, Apple shares your Game Center player id for this game, with its signature. We do not receive your email address, contacts, Apple ID or Google account password.
Reports
If you report another player's name, the Game opens an email to us with that name and their player id. We receive your email address and anything you write, and use them only to review the report and reply to you.
Reminders
If you turn on reminders (for example when your lives are full again or the daily gift is waiting), the Game schedules them as notifications on your phone. They're made on the phone itself: nothing is sent to us or to a push service. You can turn them off in the Game's Settings or in your phone's settings.
Collected by advertising partners
Google AdMob and the ad networks it works with collect information such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, device model, operating system, language and how you interact with ads. See Advertising.
Purchases
In-app purchases and the Paper Pass subscription are paid through Google Play or Apple's App Store. RevenueCat, our purchase service, receives the store's receipt for each purchase (product, transaction id, price and date) together with your player id, checks it with the store, and keeps a record of what you own so the Game can give it to you and restore it on a new phone. Neither we nor RevenueCat ever receive your name, address or payment card.
App updates
The Game uses Shorebird to deliver small fixes without a full store update. When the Game starts it checks for a fix, sending the app version, platform and an anonymous install id. No personal information is included.
This website
This website has no cookies, analytics or trackers. Our host may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security.
3. How we use it
- To run the leaderboard and rank system and keep your place when you change phones (with Game Center or Play Games).
- To review names that players report, and keep the leaderboard free of offensive names.
- To prevent cheating: the server works out scores itself and limits how often events can be sent.
- To show ads, including rewarded videos you choose to watch, and to measure how ad settings affect play.
- To deliver purchases and the subscription you paid for.
- To fix bugs and answer your support requests.
We don't sell your personal information and we don't use it for anything not listed here. Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on performance of a contract (providing the Game and what you bought), our legitimate interests (running a fair leaderboard, keeping the service secure, improving the Game) and your consent (personalised advertising, where required).
4. Advertising
Paper Cut! is free to play and is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. AdMob may also use the following mediation partners to fill ads: AppLovin, Unity Ads, ironSource (Unity), Meta Audience Network, Liftoff (Vungle) and Mintegral. These companies may use your advertising identifier and other device information to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure ad performance and, if you allow it, personalise ads.
- Consent. In the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and other regions where it is required, the Game shows Google's consent message before any ad is requested, and you can choose whether ads are personalised.
- Apple's tracking prompt. On iOS, the Game asks with Apple's tracking prompt before any ad is requested. The advertising identifier is shared with AdMob and its partners, and ads are personalised, only if you allow it. You can change your answer in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Opting out. On Android, go to Settings → Google → Ads to delete or reset your advertising id.
- No Ads. Buying No Ads removes ads between levels. Rewarded videos stay available because you choose to watch them.

The leaderboard runs on a server we operate ourselves using Appwrite; your leaderboard data is not shared with Appwrite or anyone else.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your leaderboard entry for as long as you play. If an entry has had no activity for 24 months, we may delete it. Server logs are kept for no more than 30 days. If you ask us to delete your data, we do so within 30 days.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, California's CCPA/CPRA or India's DPDP Act), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict how it's used, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. To use any of these rights, email us (see Contact). We will not treat you differently for doing so.
You can change your leaderboard name at any time in the Game. You can avoid the leaderboard's link to your Google or Apple game account by not signing in with Play Games, or by signing out of Game Center.
8. Deleting your data
In the Game, open Settings and tap Delete my data. Your leaderboard entry, player id, display name and rank points are deleted from our server straight away, and your progress on the phone starts over. If you keep playing afterwards, you get a new, empty leaderboard entry.
If you no longer have the Game installed, you can also ask us by email:
- Email aryanutkarsh@maneged.com with the subject "Paper Cut data deletion".
- Include your leaderboard display name and, if you can, the date you started playing, so we can find your entry.
- We'll delete your entry, player id and associated game events within 30 days and confirm by email.
Progress kept on your phone is deleted when you uninstall the Game or clear its storage. Purchase records held by Google or Apple are subject to their own policies. To ask an ad partner to delete data, use the links above or reset your advertising id.
9. Children
Paper Cut! is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security and transfers
All connections between the Game and our server are encrypted (HTTPS). Players can only read the leaderboard; only our server can write to it. Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States; where required, they use safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes we'll also let you know in the Game.
